• Estate Collection - CGI’s premium impact-rated line with 2-1/4″ thick aluminum frames and integrated multipoint locking. Frame label is stamped “EC-” followed by the series number. Requires Estate-specific hinges and strike plates; standard aftermarket hinges will not seat correctly in the deeper mortise.
• Sentinel by CGI - Mid-tier impact line with 1-3/4″ frames. Label prefix “SEN-“. Uses a different threshold profile than Estate; we’ve seen homeowners order Estate thresholds for Sentinel frames and end up with a 3/8” gap that channels water straight to the subfloor.
• Targa - CGI’s non-impact vinyl line, common in Hollywood’s interior-facing openings and covered lanais. Frame label reads “TGA-“. Hardware is lighter duty and not interchangeable with the aluminum Estate or Sentinel lines.

The compatibility gotcha we see most often: CGI changed its multipoint lock actuator design in 2019. Pre-2019 Estate and Sentinel doors use a rectangular faceplate; post-2019 units switched to a rounded profile with a wider 45mm backset. If you’re matching hardware to an existing door, check the manufacture date stamped on the hinge-side jamb label before ordering anything. We carry both profiles on our trucks.

Signs Your CGI Door Installation Is Failing

• The deadbolt or multipoint throws hard or grinds. Salt corrosion builds on the stainless actuator rods inside the lock body, especially on east-facing doors in Hollywood Beach and Harbor Islands. The mechanism isn’t broken yet, but the increased friction will distort the strike plate until it fails to catch.
• Visible daylight under the door when closed. The adjustable threshold cap wears down or the compression seal loses its memory in Florida heat. On CGI’s aluminum frames, the threshold is a replaceable component; on Targa vinyl, it’s integral to the frame and requires full sill replacement.
• The door sticks seasonally, worse in summer. Aluminum expands roughly 1/8″ per 10 feet of frame between winter lows and August humidity. If the installer didn’t set proper clearance margins, the door binds against the jamb. We see this on rushed retrofits in Hollywood’s 1950s concrete-block homes where the rough opening wasn’t trued.
• Condensation between glass panes on a door lite. The IGU (insulated glass unit) seal has failed. CGI uses a dual-seal system, but South Florida’s UV load degrades the PIB primary seal faster than the manufacturer rates. We replace the IGU, not the whole door, when the frame is sound.
• Hinge screws loosen repeatedly or the door sags. The original installer may have used standard wood screws into the aluminum frame instead of the specified thread-forming fasteners. CGI’s hinge prep is precise; the wrong screw strips the pilot hole and the hinge migrates 1/16″ at a time until the latch misses.

Safe to check yourself: Clean and lubricate the multipoint lock with a dry Teflon spray (not WD-40, which attracts grit). Verify the threshold screws are tight. Check the hinge-side label for your model and manufacture date so you can speak our language when you call.

Call us: Any work involving the multipoint lock body, threshold removal, or IGU replacement. CGI doors are engineered systems; the lock, sweep, and frame tolerances are interdependent. We’ve been called to Hollywood homes where a homeowner’s threshold adjustment threw the door out of plumb and voided the multipoint warranty.
