ES Windows Window Replacement: The Hollywood Owner’s Guide

ES Windows window replacement in Hollywood typically runs $340-$780 per opening installed, depending on whether you’re swapping a standard vinyl single-hung or a larger impact-rated unit with integrated laminated glass. We stock ES Windows-compatible frames, sashes, and hardware for same-day replacement on most common series, and we carry PGT, CGI, and CWS alternatives when the original spec has been discontinued. Most Hollywood owners discover they need a replacement when the sash won’t stay open, the lock no longer seats flush, or they spot delamination between the glass panes after a storm season.

Which ES Windows Models This Applies To

ES Windows manufactures out of Medley, Florida, and their product line breaks into three main series you’ll find across Hollywood homes built from 2015 forward: the ESW 2500 vinyl single-hung (non-impact), the ESW 5500 aluminum impact-rated line, and the ESW 7500 thermal-break aluminum series common in higher-end builds near Hollywood Lakes. The label is usually etched into the glass corner or stamped on the frame edge behind the sash; if it’s worn off, measure the visible glass width and height, the frame depth (typically 2-5/8″ or 3-1/4″), and note whether the glass is monolithic or laminated.

We see a specific compatibility gotcha with the ESW 5500: the early production run (roughly 2016-2019) used a proprietary sash balance with a 5/8″ diameter tube that ES Windows later discontinued. The current OEM replacement is a 3/4″ tube with a modified shoe, and it requires a different jamb liner. We stock both versions and the adapter kit, but most hardware stores don’t carry the transition parts. For aftermarket equivalents, we source from C.R. Laurence and Truth Hardware where the spec matches; we don’t use universal-fit balances in impact-rated frames because the load rating differs by series.

Signs Your ES Windows Window Replacement Is Failing

Signs Your ES Windows Window Replacement Is Failing
  • The sash drops or won’t stay open. This usually means the coil balance has lost tension or the pivot bar has cracked at the shoe connection. In Hollywood’s salt-air environment, we’ve seen balances corrode internally in as little as seven years, especially on east-facing windows that catch morning condensation.
  • Visible fog or moisture between the glass panes. The insulating glass unit (IGU) seal has failed, and the desiccant inside the spacer bar is saturated. Once you see fogging, the Low-E coating is already degrading; the IGU needs replacement, not defogging.
  • The lock won’t engage or pulls away from the frame. Either the keeper has shifted due to frame expansion (common in vinyl units after multiple heat cycles) or the lock mechanism itself has worn. We check frame squareness before replacing hardware; a new lock on a racked frame fails again in months.
  • Cracked or delaminating glass, especially after a named storm. Impact-rated laminated glass can spiderweb without breaching, but the interlayer degrades with UV exposure. If you see a white haze at the crack edges, the PVB interlayer is separating and the impact rating is compromised.
  • Air infiltration at the sash meeting rail or frame perimeter. The weatherstrip has compressed past recovery or the sash interlock is no longer seating flush. We use a smoke pencil during survey to pinpoint the leak path; sometimes it’s the weatherstrip, sometimes it’s frame deflection from improper installation.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Component/Service Hollywood Price Range
Standard vinyl sash replacement (ESW 2500 series) $340-$480
Impact-rated aluminum sash with laminated glass (ESW 5500) $580-$780
IGU-only replacement (glass swap, reuse frame) $280-$420
Coil balance / hardware replacement $180-$290
Full frame replacement, impact-rated, per opening $890-$1,340

These are installed prices with parts, labor, and disposal included. What drives the range: frame material (vinyl vs. thermal-break aluminum), glass specification (monolithic vs. laminated impact-rated), and whether the existing frame is square and structurally sound. We pull permits when required by Hollywood’s building department; permit fees are listed separately on the written quote, not buried. Every replacement carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise under the Haven Standard, and you receive the measured survey, the written scope, and a documented photo record of the completed work.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s a short list of what you can safely check yourself: verify the model label, measure the visible glass, and photograph the hardware from inside and out. That information saves us fifteen minutes on site and gets your parts ordered faster.

Where DIY goes wrong with ES Windows units: the sash balances on impact-rated frames are under significant tension and require a specific winding tool; we’ve seen homeowners release them improperly and damage the jamb liner beyond repair. Laminated glass panels weigh roughly 2.5 times what standard glass does; a 36″ x 60″ impact unit can exceed 80 pounds. And if you’re dealing with a failed IGU in an impact-rated frame, the replacement glass must match the original design pressure rating documented on the NFRC label, or your windstorm inspection certificate becomes invalid. We handle that verification against manufacturer spec sheets before anything gets ordered. Call (754) 714-7309 and we’ll schedule a measured survey; the written quote is the same document our crew works from.
