• Draft around the frame perimeter. Compression weatherstrip has taken a set, or the frame has racked slightly in its opening. We check with a smoke pencil to find whether it’s the sash seal or the frame-to-wall gap.
• Condensation on the interior glass surface. Not between panes, but inside the room. This points to low interior surface temperature from degraded low-E coating or failed warm-edge spacer, common in units that faced afternoon sun for a decade.
